Decho said Friday the latest release of 1.4.3 Mac for MozyHome and MozyPro online backup service fixes a problem it was having associated with saving backups sent to it by Apple’s Time Machine backup tool, which works with Apple’s Time Capsule network-attached storage device.
The 1.4.3 Mac release for MozyHome and MozyPro is available to download at the MozyHome site and at MozyPro site, which fixes the Time Machine/Time Capsule issue.
A bug was discovered in v1.4.1 Mac release earlier this week that affected users of Time Machine with Time Capsule or Time Machine with a network share of another Mac. Microsoft has responded to Apple’s complaint about the software giant’s Laptop Hunters campaign by quietly tweaking at least one of the ads, taking down the old ad from its website and sites like YouTube, and replacing it with a new one. The only difference is that the new ad no longer mentions specific numbers because Apple recently lowered pricing on its Mac notebooks. “We slightly adjusted the ads to reflect the updated pricing of the Mac laptop shown in the TV advertisement,” a Microsoft spokesperson told Ars. “This does not change the focus of the campaign which is to showcase the value and choice of the PC.” A quick check through all the Laptop Hunters ads on YouTube shows that the fifth one was the only one to be changed out of the six ads. After threatening to sue the operator of a public wiki site over an anonymous discussion about syncing iPods using software other than iTunes, Apple has changed its tune.
Apple has withdrawn legal threats sent last year to Bluwiki, a public wiki hosting site that contained anonymously authored pages about creating software to synchronize Apple iPods and iPhones using media management software other that Apple’s iTunes.
The Bluwiki discussion concerned efforts to reverse engineer a code Apple began including in its devices after September 2007 to limit access to the iTunesDB file.
